this sounds similar to a condition a child of a friend of mine has. Is this something to do witha part of the genome not being activated properly? Sorry thats a bit vague, does it have other names in other parts of the world?
    I’m European for instance?

    Hi Man, it’s Fau.
You’re a smart guy, steeped in academics, all of us are not.
Give something we can work with, something across the board. how it may affect an obsever and what coping strategies we may want to use to help the sufferer, what a person who is unfamiliar with the condition should understand when confronted with it etc! Facts and figures are good! BUT you need some of the more instinctive Human in this to truley help all people!
    Your Friend

I don;t like Temple. There is another woman called Donna that my gf saw that is a none profit person. She doesn’t do her talks for personal gain. I am suspicious of anyone that makes money out of Aspergers. Including organisations that are jumping on the band waggon to make decent money. There are a number of books, but I find them laughable. Most of them have a forward off Tony Attwood or may get paid a lot for doing the service. But the people who know about AS are the people with it.

Aspergers is basically a Social Anxiety Disorder. But more than that it makes someone socially awkward. It makes them have problems with eye contact, reading and displaying body language. Have certain problems such as monotone voice. Poor Coordination. Easily manipulated and taken advantage of due to taking things literally. Obsessions with rituals and objects. Unable to relate to a large group, ie at a party etc. Facial blindness. Spacing out.

One of my questions is about augmentative communication for non-verbal autistic children. If, for example, a child does not understand the spoken word despite the intensive ABA therapy (no receptive language), how do you go about it in your personal practice? PECS are often used as well as the sign language and there are other suggested means. There is some controversy about it in the ABA literature. What is your take on it?

Also what is your opinion about the internet communities (many of which are technology type folks) that are self-diagnosed “Aspies” (their own term). How about Temple Grandin’s, the animal behaviorist lady who is Asperger/high functioning autism, functioning level for autism?

  8. opivy22 says:

Hey, thanks for posting the series.

What is the difference in aspergers and high functioning autism in relation to language development, getting the concept of theory of mind, and any other aspects in relation to development or maturation effects? Can you cover some of this stuff in the new series?

Good video. We disagree on many theological topics. However, I can’t help but respect you
