I feel like I just saw the world from my 7 year old son’s point of view for the very first time. My God, thank you for this. Thank you, thank you..

I have thought my son with AS, that being is weird is cool and means he can act silly and fun when other people are all stuffy and boring, and that If someone says he is wierd, then he should say, Yeah I weird and that cool, but whats your excuse for being the way you are.

  8. CityzenJane says:

Youtube and visual learners — that’s going to mean great things…there are other video sites dedicated to “how to” vids out there.

  9. CityzenJane says:

We live in a culture that tries to force conformity through cruelty in childhood and compulsion in adulthood…
Everyone that has a disability gets told and internalises the idea that they shouldn’t ‘use’ their issue as an excuse…except that we mostly transcend a LOT — and are hardest on ourselves! Vive les difference! You are very talented with the video thing!

What you said is pretty much how I think and feel. I live and work in the world and try to interact with people but something is missing. And I’m tired of that “look.” Yes, people talk to me but I don’t know what they are talking about or how to react. I’ll figure it out in a day or two.

  11. satscout says:

bravo! *applause* *hugs* Very well put. Especially the part about people learning – and expressing themselves – differently. You have visual vs. verbal, and I would add visual vs. verbal vs. kinetic. *hmmm, idea for blog…* *grin* As said by another user, you go girl!

you remain my Hero of heroes, now to the list of wonderful traits I can add Courage! I know you well enough to know that this video was a big step for you – and you look good on camera! It looks like others now are going to get an opportunity to know you better, and that is a good thing. I’ve always thought your talents and observations and insight needed to be shared with others, so, now that you’re venturing into a new arena, all I can say is, You GO Girl! Love ya.

  13. WolfRae says:

Beautiful words you said there, hun. I’ve three cousins who have it. One, isn’t as severe as my other cousins. It’s very hard to live with. I can’t say that I know what it’s like, but I can say that I know it isn’t easy. The world is insane, and you proved that everyone can pull through if they try. And trust me, sometimes I’ve felt as it trying was just too hard. You’re a great inspiration. Remember, lots of people out there love you. Always remember that.

Thank you for “using your voice,” Aspiegirl. When you said “everybody’s different,” you were right. People want to feel like everybody’s just like they are, but it would be better if we understood our differences. I wish your video would be seen by that committee Clay Aiken is on now, The Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. They need to know that it’s not just children with autism who need support and understanding – it’s adults like you.

  15. shandypoo says:

you are so right I know how it is.
im fact one time in class a kid said to me that the world would perfict without kids “like me” just becouse I am deffrent.

  16. pernelle says:

Congratulations Aspiegirl. Happy new year and thank you because I could hear your voice.

  17. lordalfredhenry says:

I can’t get my post to show up. Just want to say this is a favorite of mine.

  18. lordalfredhenry says:

This expressed a LOT of how I feel. A lot of it is exactly how I feel. Like when you were talking about not feeling weird until others point it out. I wouldn’t know much about this if it weren’t for others making note of it. To me, my ways have always been “normal” for me.

  19. lordalfredhenry says:

You express a lot of things that are exactly how I feel. I too often don’t feel I’m as weird as others think. I wouldn’t know much about it at all if it weren’t for others. I love this video. Thank you.

  20. Adrenalyn says:

Thanks for posting this you are very strong and you proved that you are able to face even the scariest of things when you are motivated to do so.
Life is crazy and we are all just trying to live it healthy and happy and who cares about “normal” people. They’re just boring!

Thank you droooopy. I tried to send you a message but it did not go through. Sometimes my messages go through on YouTube and sometimes they dont. Maybe if I try later it will work. :)
